Epik Empire Measurements

Are you looking for official measurements for the Epik Empire? Well, Chad (founder and CEO of Epik) has promised, since the introduction of the Empire that he would post the measurements. Well, it has been four months now, and still has not posted the frequency response graphs. Is Chad a man of his word? The frequency response graphs of the Dynasty, Phoenix, Dragon, Sentinel, and Vanquish were all posted as soon as these subwoofers were listed for sale. Is there something Epik is trying to hide with the Empire?

Epik Empire Update

Finally, an update on the availability of the Epik Empire. According to Epik, the Empire won't be available until at least June 2010. This will be a record for Epik, four months without having any product to sell. And they are still in business? As you can see, one of the drawbacks of Internet direct subwoofer manufacturers is the lack of inventory, although some handle this better than others. For a proven track record of availablility and quality, you are better of buying a product from Velodyne which has been in business for over 27 years.  If you were shopping for the Empire, the Velodyne DEQ-15R 15-Inch Powered Subwoofer would be a good match.

Epik Empire Sold Out!

On March 25, 2010, Epik reported on their blog that the Epik Empire was sold out and will not be restocked for several months. Epik indicated they are still taking orders and should have more in stock in the coming months. If you are looking for a subwoofer now, you might want to look elsewhere, unless you are very patient.

The last time Epik sold out of a sub was when they discontinued the Epik Phoenix, Dynasty, Vanquish, Sentinel, and Conquest and came out with the Empire. Does Epik has a new subwoofer coming soon? We'll find out.

Epik Empire

Taking the subwoofer world by storm is the Epik Empire, created by the world-renown Chad Kuypers. Founded in 2007, Chad Kuypers has taken subwoofer design to the next level in late 2009 with the introduction of a side firing, dual-opposed 15" sealed subwoofer in a moderately-sized enclosure. The Empire is equipped with a ultra-efficient Class D 600W RMS amplifier. All of these combine to offer a chest pounding, nibble musical experience.

But be aware, although Internet direct subwoofer manufacturers offer the best bang-for-the buck, they fail to offer the same long-term quality and warranty as retail subwoofer manufactureres like Polk and Velodyne. If you are thinking of purchasing an Internet direct subwoofer from SVS, Epik, HSU, AV123, Elemental Design, please make sure the company offers the same warranty and amplifier quality as retail subwoofers, and that the warranty is transferable to new owners if you end up having to sell the internet direct subwoofer.

For information on the similar Velodyne DEQ-15R 15-Inch Powered Subwoofer, please visit this link. At 75 lbs., the Velodyne is 65 lbs lighter, is equipped with a 750 watts RMS amplifier, a remote control, a DSP distortion limiting system, and offers a Three years electronics and Five years driver transferable warranty. Velodyne has over 27 years of experience developing high quality subwoofers.
